Irene Katz
was born in the Windy City. But after too many chilly winters,
she was lured to the subtropical breezes of South Florida.
Irene obtained her master's degree from the University of Florida, and
soon began her career as an educator and guidance counselor. During
this tenure, she influenced and encouraged students to develop
communication skills and establish career goals. She created an
affective education curriculum through the use of children's books
known as bibliotherapy. She has lectured at many nationally recognized
educational symposia.
Her penchant for the arts was nurtured at an early age. She has been
an actress, model, dancer, and songwriter. Irene volunteered her services
and promoted the Florida Bar's annual legal symposium on "The World of
Music, Film, and Television." She was an assistant producer and host
for the Arts Access Charity Concert held at the Broward Center for the
Performing Arts. She supports the Miami City Ballet, Ballet Florida,
Miami Light Project, New World Symphony, the Recording
Academy/Musicares, Women in Film, American Cancer Society, and the Los
Angeles Multiple Sclerosis Dinner of Champions.
Her hobbies include underwater photography, sailing, and collecting
vintage accessories. She is currently working on a manuscript for a
children's book.
